The 2013 theme for Postnatal Depression Awareness Week (17 - 23 November) is 'Parents are People too: looking after your family includes looking after you.'
Up to 1 in 10 women experience depression during pregnancy and 1 in 7 in the year following birth. Anxiety disorders are also common. Talking about Postnatal Depression can break down stigma; allowing new and expectant parents to feel more free to seek help, and recover.
You can educate community about postnatal depression and other mental illnesses experienced in the perinatal period by holding a Parents' Time event.
Find out more about how to get involved, including downloading our starter kit including helpful information about how to run an event.
