Transition to School - Let's Get Started Webinar feedback

Did anyone tune in to the Family Advocacy webinar Let's Get Started regarding transition to school for a child with a disability?  Although it was geared towards families, I feel anything like this is beneficial for people supporting families, to provide that empowerment for the transition.

Topics included:
  •  the benefit of a 'vision' for your child, and how to create one;
  • identifying the vision in various schools, and having honest, positive discussions with the schools;
  • how to create a strengths-based portfolio regarding your child;
  • knowing the supports that can be available for your child, and how to ensure they are available to you child - this included the various aides and supports for during school time, as well as possible assistance to accessing school if public transport is not available or feasible;
  • being aware of any funding the school can apply for to assist your child;
  • documentation you will need to complete as a parent of a child with a disability starting school and throughout school.
I listened on the iPad between Mathoura and Wagga, cutting in and out as we went in and out of range.  It was a terrific webinar that covered the personal aspect from a family perspective, a school perspective, state support perspective, and a general what to expect or anticipate.

Prior to the webinar, registration ensured a pack was received in advance containing the slides that were presented (useful for the downtime!), the registration form used for school, and information pertaining to Family Advocacy and Resourcing Families.  Following the webinar, an email was sent that provided a summary as well as all details and questions answered during the webinar.  Below are the links that related to all the topics:
