Fanatastic tools for managing challenging behaviours

One of the most useful websites regarding challenging behaviours is aptly www.challengingbehavior.org.  Please take some time to peruse and you are guaranteed to find information that will be of benefit to your preschool.

I suggest reading the User's Manual first.  It doesn't take long, but it does provide an overall picture of how to use the tools and folders thereafter.  The user manual and the various folders are within this link: Creating Teaching Tools for Young Children with Challenging Behaviours.  All the folders are incredibly user friendly.  Going through each one is preferable.

Folder 4 has a wonderful story and technique around Tucker the Turtle - encouraging children to tuck while they think before they act out.
Folder 5 is all about 'how to' with visuals as well as many downloadable options.
You will find throughout ways to support families in creating the same supports for home.  It may be something that you are able to provide for them.  Folder 9 is specifically for parents to aide in strength building, positive reinforcement and transitions from home.

We will create a 'tool' kit in house and have it to 'show off' when we visit you next.  Please comment if you have used this or intend to use it.  We'd love to have your experiences included!
